First exhibition of ARTCO Gallery Brussels at the Rivoli Art Centre.
"LOST & FOUND" with works by Patrick Tagoe-Turkson and Francois du Plessis.
After observing the art market in Brussels for several years, we decided to rent an exhibition space in the Rivoli Gallery Centre, in the heart of the Belgian and European capital, initially on a temporary basis for one year.
The Rivoli is home to 16 contemporary art galleries, each of which opens their exhibitions simultaneously with an "opening event".
In our first exhibition there, entitled "LOST & FOUND", we are showing works by two artists who are concerned in the broadest sense with the theme of recycling, the reuse of objects that have been thrown away or disposed of by others.
The Ghanaian artist Patrick Tagoe-Turkson, for example, collects washed-up plastic sandals, so-called "flip-flops", on the beaches of Takoradi. These are then cut up in his studio to create impressive compositions of form and colour from the individual elements.
Francois du Plessis uses old books as material, which he also cuts up and reassembles into new sculptural objects.

About the artists:
Patrick Tagoe-Turkson is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Takoradi /Ghana. He graduated as Master of Fine Art from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi. The artist has already participated in over 100 exhibitions at home and abroad. His work has been exhibited in France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Canada, Germany, South Korea, Japan, China, Austria, Mexico, the United States, Senegal, Nigeria, Haiti, South Africa, Romania and Hungary. Patrick's works are in important private and public collections such as those of the Royal Ontario Museum, Canada, and the Casoria Contemporary Art Museum in Italy. In addition to his artistic activities, Patrick teaches painting as a professor at the Takoradi Technical University in Ghana.
Francois du Plessis was born in Zimbabwe in 1961 and grew up in South Africa.
After a three-year journey through the Middle East and Europe, Francois settled in Germany. He has lived and worked as a freelance artist in Aachen since 1988.
His art has been shown at many international exhibitions and art fairs in Europe, Africa and the USA. In 2013 he received the Art Award of the Ostrale Dresden.His works are represented in international private and public collections, such as the Kunstsammlung NRW, the collection of the IWALEWA Haus, Bayreuth, the Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemperain, Liège, Belgium or the Pretoria Art Museum in South Africa.
