This little Flower Society includes different opinions about the policy of general intoxication that comes from the dictatorship of Belladonna. The opposition in the role of Datura flower does not find much support. Many of the flowers feel that society is degrading, culture is rotting. Some are optimistic about the future and believe that the gardener will soon plant new and better flowers in this land. The Flower Society is in anticipation of the coming of the Gardener as the messiah.
Katya Quel is Berlin based artist with a graphic design and graffiti background. She was studying sculpture in Berlin Weissensee Academy and visual communications previously in Moscow. Her artistic practice is dedicated to exploring the power of a fairy imaginary narrative hidden in the mix of materials combined with modern technologies in the female hands.
Katya fosters relationships between different fields of knowledge, blurring the boundaries between artistic and academic research, theory and practice, science and fiction, design and art, culture and nature. She aims to make visible new modes of artistic coexistence that go beyond the traditional canons and open other possibilities to narrate ourselves and our environment. Katya wants to imagine worlds within tales, beings within universes, that may provide new frameworks from which to understand and act in the face of the contemporary ecological crisis.
Legenda for the works of the series ´The Gardener Will Soon Replant The Garden´ that will participate in the exhibition:
